The River Loom is an initiative by Camola Valarezo, part of the Espíritu del Río project, designed to walk through streets that once were rivers in the city. This artwork, created entirely with recycled materials, invites us to reimagine what “trash” truly means.
Camola Valarezo’s work focuses on creating artisanal looms using natural and recycled elements. Her most recent pieces reflect her sacred connection with water, rivers, and her dream of seeing them clean and free-flowing through the city.
Through the River Loom, she inspires the community to weave a 2.5-kilometer-long tapestry as a way to raise awareness about the waste we generate. Eventually, the aim is to walk with this unique fabric through the streets that once were rivers, creating a movement and a peaceful act that revives the original water pathways of each community.
